Evan shares his journey from 22 years building a successful apparel business to transitioning to founding a venture capital firm to help companies scale and succeed. We have a wonderful discussion about his experience in the fashion industry, as well as other industries where he is busy. He has some amazing insights and experiences which shares during the interactive discussion.

Evan Toporek is the Founder and Managing Member of Thread Ventures, a newly formed investment and advisory firm focused on helping early stage consumer products reach their potential. Prior to launching Thread Ventures, Evan co-owned and was the CEO of Alternative Apparel, a global lifestyle apparel brand. Over his 22 year tenure, Evan helped guide Alternative through exponential growth, achieving Inc 500, Georgia Fast 40, and Atlanta Business Chronicle Pacesetter recognition along the way. Alternative was acquired by Hanesbrands in 2017. Prior to joining Alternative, Evan worked as a Senior Consultant for Andersen Consulting, advising clients including Chick-fil-A, Georgia Pacific, and Fedex.
Evan has a degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech. Evan serves in varying leadership positions on several for-profit and nonprofit Boards and is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Atlanta. Evan is a guest lecturer at the Industrial Engineering School at Georgia Tech and a member of it’s Board of Advisors.
Evan lives in Atlanta with his wife Lisa and kids Lia and Mason. When not working, Evan enjoys traveling for fun and occasionally playing the drums.
