robotics + systems engineering

1 february 2021

Tomasz shares how his passion for physics in high school turned toward robotics based on some caring advice.  While he shares a bit about his current and past work, for example with Dyson, we get into some very interesting dimensions on the convergence of robotics and systems engineering.  Certainly interesting for people who are working on large-scale, complex, engineering initiatives.

bio

Tomasz is mobile robotics and systems engineering leader, currently CTO at AgTech robotics startup HayBeeSee.

He has MEng in Robotics & Control Engineering from Silesian University of Technology (Poland) as well as postgraduate degree in Autonomus Vehicle Dynamics and Control from Cranfield University (UK).

Tomasz has a decade of experience in robotics and deep tech, having worked across five countries (Poland, Finland, Netherlands, Spain, UK) in various tech roles (from Senior Systems Engineer through consultant to CTO) in leading global robotics companies (Dyson, Aerialtronics and Emotech) bringing novel autonomous AI-powered products to wide variety of markets both commercial and consumer. Some of the highlights include contribution to launching first-ever VSLAM-powered self-driving vacuum at Dyson, and leading commercial drones research & development at one of the first drone manufacturer Aerialtronics based in Netherlands.

HayBeeSee is AgTech robotics startup based in London (HQ & R&D) and Katowice (R&D) introducing fundamental change to “agronomy” and farming best-practice utilising state-of-the-art robotics and AI.

The world of agri-tech is fast moving towards precision agriculture & robotics, yet farmers today lack access to any real products that deliver quality data or impact on their farm at all.

Meet the CropHopper®, world’s first robot designed for fast and efficient jumping across fields to frequently scan crops, identify weeds (single leaf – even blackgrass), aphids & other bugs, early signs of disease, tiller-count, plant count, grain-counts per head as well as to carry out mechanical weeding and spot spraying. CropHopper® is lightweight – few kg and works through an entire season, even in growing crops improving yield in multiple areas. Adding up to significant impact.

Founded in 2016, and funded by the London Business Angels, London Co-Investment Fund, Innovate UK and European Space Agency as part of the ESA BIC incubation support programme.

Bringing the revolution in agriculture to a farm near you.
