Monique shares her journey from deciding to stop buying clothes in 2012 to co-founding a store concept that makes ‘swapping the new shopping.’  The Swapshop just opened their second store in Amsterdam and are on the verge of launching their online store.  Monique shares how she has evolved as an entrepreneur over the years and has a vision of truly global impact.  This conversation is part of the Startup in Residence series.

Monique is one of the founders of The Swapshop. She is an endless curious sociologist, who believes that great work adds up to life. It should be fun, useful, and full of self-discovery.

The Swapshop is a store-concept with several shops where you swap your clothes en renew your wardrobe in a very sustainable way. For each item swapped, you throw away one item less and buy one item less. In this way, you make a double impact.

Next to their two shops in Rotterdam, they recently launched a brand new swapshop in Amsterdam and an online store. They are also running The Swapshop Academy as a program for social change and are very dedicated to change the retail market forever!
